Awards

Based in Los Angeles, Zheyu Liang is a filmmaker originally from China. She is known for her passion in telling diverse stories and shedding light on issues faced by underrepresented communities, immigration, gender, and family dynamics. Zheyu has been directing, producing, filming and editing  numerous films that explore these themes.


One of her recent works is the feature documentary "Asian Inspirations", presented by ODK Media and Shandong Film & TV Media International. The film follows the journeys of three influential leaders: Duy-Loan Le, Charles Huang and C.K. David Chu. "Asian Inspirations" is currently on on OnDemandChina, OnDemandKorea and OnDemandViet.

In 2020, Zheyu premiered a documentary titled "The Future of Hollywood" at the CESASC 58th annual convention. The film featured acclaimed director Ang Lee and renowned actress Lisa Lu. Additionally, in 2019, Zheyu contributed to the production of a national commercial for Coca-Cola Regal Films, which was screened in Regal Cinemas nationwide.

Zheyu's films have been selected by various prestigious film festivals, including the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, CAAMFEST, Austin Film Festival, Austin Asian American Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, 16th Chinese American Film Festival, Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, Dharamshala International Film Festival, and CineAsian Films, among others.

Throughout her career, Zheyu has collaborated with notable clients such as Alibaba Group, Tmall Global, Tencent, ByteDance, TikTok, ODK Media, PBS (Public Broadcasting Service), AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group), Fujifilm, Center for Scholars & Storytellers, Optimist Films, Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles, and Shanghai Yunsong Culture Communication Co., Ltd.

Currently, Zheyu is working on her upcoming feature film, tentatively titled "One and Only," scheduled for release in 2023.

Zheyu Liang holds an MFA degree from the School of Theater, Film and Television at UCLA and a BA degree from the School of Communication and Journalism at Shanghai University. She has also been a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto and the Journalism School of Cologne, Germany.
