Biography
Based in Los Angeles, Zheyu Liang is a film director, producer and editor originally from China. She is inspired by real life stories of humanity and is passionate about telling diverse stories. Zheyu has been directing and editing lots of films that shed light on issues of the underrepresented community, immigration, gender, and family dynamics among others.
Presented by ODK Media and Shandong Film & TV Media International, her recent feature documentary “Asian Inspirations” follows three influential leaders - Duy-Loan Le, Charles Huang and C.K. David Chu. The film is now on air on OnDemandChina, OnDemandKorea and OnDemandViet.
In 2020, Zheyu’s short doc titled, The Future of Hollywood, starring acclaimed director Ang Lee and acclaimed actress Lisa Lu, premiered at CESASC 58th annual convention. In 2019, Zheyu helped produce a national commercial for Coca-Cola Regal Films and was shown in Regal Cinemas nationwide.
Many films she worked on have been selected by numerous film festivals like Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, CAAMFEST, Austin Film Festival, Austin Asian American Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, 16th Chinese American Film Festival, Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, Dharamshala International Film Festival and CineAsian Films among others.
Her clients include Alibaba Group, Tmall Global, ByteDance, Tik Tok, ODK Media, Center for Scholars & Storytellers, Optimist Films, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles and Shanghai Yunsong Culture Communication Co., Ltd.
Currently, she is working on a feature film, One and Only (working title), which will be distributed in 2023.
Zheyu received an MFA degree from UCLA, School of Theater, Film and Television and a BA degree from Shanghai University, School of Communication and Journalism. Zheyu was also a visiting scholar in University of Toronto and in The Journalism school of Cologne, Germany.
